Procrastination
– An Indicator for Success
Procrastination is a topic that we’re all familiar with. This involves doing certain tasks that we don’t like and so we put them off until the last minute.
Procrastination can take another form that I am going to highlight in this article:
Many entrepreneurs avoid outsourcing tasks that they don’t need to do by themselves. There are various reasons for this- either they can’t find anyone appropriate to do it or they like doing these tasks and don’t want to hand them over. It’s worth taking a behind the scenes look at this and the effects that this has.
When we procrastinate, we are not giving ourselves the time to further develop the company. As an entrepreneur, it is important to focus on strategic matters rather than filling our time with tasks that someone else can do.
Even though you are actively doing tasks, it is also a form of procrastination because they are tasks that you don’t need to be doing. It delays your own success, the growth of your company, the accumulation of (more) assets, etc. If you dig deeper, beliefs that you have that block your own success often become visible. This type of block can take effect at any level of success. Even if you are already successful, you could still be more successful.
This form of procrastination can also be seen as an opportunity. It shows where your potential for development is and where your own belief systems are limiting you. These belief systems can and should be changed.
Here’s what you can do to identify the patterns that are blocking your success:
- Observe your daily habits very closely. Where and with what tasks do you procrastinate? Where do you do tasks that can be outsourced, but find it difficult to do so?
- Make a clear decision to change this habit.
- Analyze the situation in detail. Where are you blocking yourself?
- Take immediate action to improve the situation.
It often takes some time to overcome such ingrained patterns in ourselves. Be patient with yourself. The most important thing is that you recognize these patterns and make a clear decision to want to change the situation.
